Hydrophonics

Before discussing various hydroponic techniques, it is important to understand the meaning of the word hydroponics itself. The word hydroponics comes from Greek, where “hydro” means water and “ponos” means nutrient. Thus, hydroponics is a plant cultivation technique using water as the main source of nutrition.

Even though the word hydroponics means water, there are various hydroponic techniques that do not always use water as the main medium. However, in the process water is still needed to deliver the nutrients needed by plants. Some alternative planting media that can be used in hydroponic techniques include gravel, rockwool, cocopeat, husk sand, and charcoal.

This method is often applied around the house because it is considered “dirty-free” considering that the plants do not come into direct contact with the soil. One of the easiest hydroponic systems to implement is the Wick system, which you can try yourself at home. The guide can be found in the book “Hydroponic Wick System: The Most Practical Way to Surely Harvest”. Watch this video please
